Close your eyes and see,
See your world in the dark;
Dark and blue sky come together,
Together as clouds in midnight dreams.
Dreams tell their own stories,
Stories so full of anxiety and joy;
Joy and worry paint fading pictures,
Pictures made with watercolors in the rain.
Rain falls against the windows,
Windows shut against raging storms,
Storms of life: storms of anger, storms of sorrow,
Sorrow as blood that floods the eyes of  Jesus Christ.

Christ and Christ alone opens our hearts,
Hearts with eyes closed in fear of what will get in;
For sorrow He gives joy; for anger, sovereign grace,
Grace quenches fury and holds the sainted sinner close.

IN GOD’S HANDS

In God’s hands
We twist and turn
Knowing His commands
But unwilling to learn

In God’s hands
We climb and fall
Striving to stand
But ignoring His call

In God’s hands
We worry and work
Following fallen man
In a never-ending search

In God’s hands
We break and die
Surrendering our plans
To the Creator of life

In God’s hands
We worship and rest
Believing Jesus has
Freed us from death

Redeemed by His blood
We kneel at His feet
Captured by His love
In God’s hands we are complete
